Waterproofing

Not the most exciting photos but progress is progress... first snow of the season and hopefully the last!  Lumber arrives tomorrow.  Planning to visit on Saturday to see framing start to go up.  Then it shouldn't take long before it looks like a house!

Game On

Got a call from our PM today, we are set for excavation on Wednesday! So a week behind, but as long as they start this week we will be excited to finally get construction underway! I am looking forward to taking some photos of the hole...will post a few later this week.

Exterior (well sorta)

Although we chose Elevation C we haven't been able to find a picture of what the house will actually look like with what we choose for the exterior... we are doing Elevation C with a front garage, no bonus room, and a water table across the entire front with siding on the rest.  Unfortunately the picture below is as close to what we are getting that I can find on the internet!  At least it shows the garage, front porch and a water table along the front of the garage.....

No Permit

So construction was scheduled to start today... however we received a very disappointing email from our PM this morning that the permit was never received from the city.  So we are in a holding pattern and behind schedule before we even start!  We were planning to go tomorrow to meet with the PM and check out our brand new hole, but that is going to have to wait until next week.  Hoping this gets taken care of pretty quickly!

In other news we were officially approved for the mortgage before the holidays so that was great news... we also finalized most of our selections before Xmas... here is a quick run down:

  • Going with Santa Cecelia granite, which was really the only major debate.  The model in Bear threw us off a little b/c it was so dark but we think the Espresso island cabinets will provide the contrast along with the dark floors.
  • Met with Guardian, went with a digital pre-wire for the TV over the fireplace in the family room.
  • Opted for an upgraded appliance package which Jo is really excited about, removed the rough-in in the basement to offset some of the cost.
  • Added ceiling fan to the Morning Room as well as in the bedrooms.
  • Hardwood in the kitchen, morning room, and foyer.
  • Butterscotch Maple Cabinets in the kitchen with a peninsula and the kitchen island (island in Espresso cabinets)
  • I'm sure there is other stuff but that is good enough for now......
Pretty much a given that we settle in April at this point, just hoping early April.  Our PM promised to keep us in the loop with this permit issue, so hopefully the next post is a positive one!
